How can I join DKM? You can’t. We are not taking new members.
Why do I get kicked off when I add the [DKM!] tag to my name? Because you are not in the DKM clan! The servers will automatically kick off imposters.
How can I reduce lag? You should make sure that nothing else is using your internet connection, either on your computer or another in the house. You should try to avoid WiFi if possible as all sorts of things interfere with it, including video senders and microwave ovens! Programs that should be checked include
- P2P such as bittorrent, streaming music or video
- Spotify
- Steam updates
- Windows updates
- Downloads in your browser
- Anything else that is uploading or downloading
If none of the above helps, you may have a virus, trojan or rootkit in your computer. These all transfer data in the background without your knowledge. Don’t trust just one virus scanner either. You may need to use several to track the infection down.
How can I make the game run better? You could try some of the tweaks described in this guide.
I saw someone hacking your server! First of all, it is quite unlikely that the person was hacking. There are many excellent players on our servers and the chances are that you were just beaten by someone with more experience. In some rare events a player may be using a wallhack to see through walls, or a speedhack. Such a hack will earn a permanent ban. You can tell us about cheaters at our Sourcebans website. You must provide evidence in the form of admission in the chat log or a demo recording taken while spectating the accused player. To record a demo type “record demoname” in your console, and to stop recording type “stop” in console.
Can I be an admin? No.
Can I add you on Steam? That depends who you want to add! If you are on our servers a lot, join the DKM Steam group (Link on the left) and you will see all the other regulars in the group in your steam chat.
How do I get out of spectate mode? Type !spectate in chat to move to or from spectate. Many members also “bind” keys to do this job. Enter these commands in the console (not chat) to set key F9 to spectate and F10 to rejoin the game.

How do I get to the developer console? Press Escape, click options, keyboard, advanced, and tick the “Enable developer console” box. Now in game press ` (the top left key under escape) to open the console.
I shot someone and they didn’t die! They were probably Spawn Protected. When a player spawns (just after they die or join the game) they will turn red / transparent and will be protected until they move. If you shoot them at this point you will be hurt instead.
